Pariah or Partner? The Korea Summit Explored

Presentation at the Australian Institute of International Affairs – Victoria, 22nd May 2018.

In this presentation, Ben Habib examines the recent inter-Korean summit between South Korean President Moon Jae in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.  Ben invites the audience to engage in empathic thinking and avoid caricature in our analysis of Korean Peninsula politics.  He reflects on the context in which the inter-Korean summit took place, then dissects the Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula, before casting his gaze forward to the (possibly) upcoming US-DPRK summit in Singapore.
